This is the second of two walks I recorded in March. This is also the first day of state-wide emergency situation (the city had already started implementing some precautions before that). This made for an extremely busy day for the library - stacks and stacks of books lent, tons of study materials copied, digital errands run. When I'd finally earned my break, the streets were already emptying.
Okay, I still had to wait some for the people and the vehicles leave the frame. But the overall quiet was enough to mke me hum "every-day's-like-Sunday" in my head a bit.
The weather, at the same time swung up plenty of drama. One moment it was sunny...
... the next moment it would leave you scrambling for rain gear.
I picked a steep cobbled path that cuts straight uphill and immediately found myself distracted by this lovely ventilation thingie. It matched right up with the fusebox landscapes.
When I say that path is steep and straight, it's because it is. Of all the little streets and passes and paths that could take you to the hilltop park, this one's among the least leisurely.
Paused on the way to marvel at the first green buds...
... and finally broke through to the sunshine and blue skies.
Caught more spring at the top. Also, dungeons.
Around the park and hill paths I noticed more people than in the streets - families, couples, small groups. It looked like they'd already gotten their emergency preparations in the row, the rush behind them, and were now taking in the fresh air and taking time for themselves.
On the other side of the hill I managed to capture an empty street after a few tries as well. (Also, I really enjoy angled view of these stairs.)
I decided against descending to the moat-street, and instead edged around the hilltop until I reached one of the foot bridges. It appears the dramatic spring winds had drama-ed down some trees, perhaps the very night before.
Captured some more near-empty street views from the bridge.
When I made my way around the south end of the hill, full sunshine kicked in and painted all the buildings very bright.
Once I reached behind the town hall, the next wave of thunderclouds entered the scene making a) all the red rooftops super red in its backdrop, and b) me super content because now I was immersed in the exact weather I'd been imagining for some scenes in my WIP.
Immersion intensified further.
When I finally got over myself and began the descent, this simple cute pattern caught my eye. Also, I still snuck in a shot of grey skies and colourful buildings (now more subdued).
To conclude the walk, i managed to capture this almost-deserted square at almost-3 PM.
This is the last walk-log so far. The official emergency situation has transitioned into milder precaution-mode, and with the gradual reopening of services, the library's been running again for the last two weeks. But because I've been walking full distance to work AND back these days, I haven't yet felt the urge for an extra stroll. I might have some isolation-gardening shots though, that could technically qualify as break between work. Stay tuned, maybe.
