Last time I made my fist confused steps in Yantar. This time (summer 2020) I started a longer session after another break, so I found myself just as confused.
In fact, my Yantar resolve quickly unravels into various side missions and secondary objectives. Among other things, I take more document retrieval tasks for Duty. (The episode dedicated to the Forest mines documents is among my more useful videos, just like the one dedicated to Agroprom papers.)
Next I keep on meandering and noodling for two more episodes, basically avoiding going to the Dead City.
And finally - after years of fucking around, doing stuff out of order, abusing the mission sequences ... I finally found an actual condition that properly breaks the game in Lost Alpha Developer's Edition. (Okay, I'd come across similar instances during testing, but that was then.)
Basically, from the beginning of this playthrough one of my main objectives had been "won't comply with the main mission". Sure, I'd done a lot of tasks for a lot of NPCs but I'd avoided certain main beats of the storyline. So far the game had adjusted well with odd order of things and snapped the conditions into "now" in places where I wasn't sure it would work. Until this proper paradox: if you go to Dead City and end up talking to Doc (cancelling the task "Kill Strelok") it will contradict the *active* task 'Kill Strelok' that shall be active because you haven't talked to the Barkeep yet. In other words, I found the exact point how far you can postpone talking to Barkeep and still carry on with the game.
After this moment of pride and chaos I was also free from my self-imposed task of avoiding the main mission. Next time - we walk into bar, also Yantar, lots of Yantar.
Meanwhile, my whole LADC playlist is over here.
