Between all the work and some play, Knux and I lent some of our time to a game prototype that Chris "Silver Spook" was putting together. Check out the brief news-update at our website, look at some mid-making posts at our forum, and read more about the project at the Silver Spook Gaming blog.
Check out Christian's youtube channel as well, and keep an eye out for game creation livestreams!

While swamped in the editing process of upcoming book "Seeker", I've snuck in some game-time with a colourful point-and-click from an indie-dev we befriended via Twitter - Christian a.k.a. Silver Spook Gaming.
Check out Christian's youtube channel and blog, and read the good Neofeud news on IndieDB!
Here is my play process, up to approximately mid-point of the game.

So I have been playing... (47). In Zone you've got to earn your artifacts.
My latest recorded adventures in Oblivion Lost kick off amidst the seasonal serene of Bloodsucker Village. (There's, like, 20 minutes of footage before that, but that's mostly just theorizing.) I share the idyllic vistas with the locals, the freelance adventurers, the natural phenomena, and discover just how helpful a Personal Data Assistant can be.

So I have been playing... (46). Zone with surprises.
Here is a next episode batch of my long-winding S.T.A.L.K.E.R.-noobvision series. Its most recent playlist ("season"?) started off with reaching a bit of a milestone (followed by goal-hangover), and then things promptly went North.
This is where I pick my trail up again.
And this is a short out-take showing off my ambitious instrument purchases. (As speculated in the recording: I am aware that the mods I'm running certainly contributed to creating the conditions of making this flamboyant trade possible; whether such conditions could be triggered in unmodded game, and whether there are other elements directly at play - I don't know.)
The whole playlist is over here.

So I have been playing... (45). More of that Zone fix.
(The upcoming big-ass collaboration-related post is still in the making; meanwhile I have accumulated a bunch of regular video-fodder to post.)
Last time we left off at the go-anywhere-but-the-way-the-main-mission-directs Stalker walk-along, I had completed one long-prepared objective: pass the one-direction Yantar complex run without the "official" psi-protection. After taking a bit of idle time and breath-catching, I'd set the next objective.
This set of episodes is all about the NPP levels - choosing the optimal gear for the trip to North; making it through the inbetween levels without too much a hassle; poking the Monolith nest while learning to identify and sneak past the storyline triggers; and of course, just generally goof off in the face of disaster.
Here's the session's first episode.

Granny-sitting Chronicles: an Epic Tale of ... well, it's pretty epic. Or something. I think.
The background.
My grand aunt has always been very active and perky, enviably so. For years she'd been following a series of subroutines: bus to town, standard market round, bus to our place, candy for the kids plus news exchange, bus back to the centre, next bus to countryside, carry the goodies home, all set by the time for the evening soaps session. Eventually it became apparent that it were these very subroutines that kept her going and not necessarily with deliberate conscious input. It seemed, the gradual degradation had actually been going on for a while and suddenly became visible in a few critical leaps. When the bus arrangements changed, she stopped going to town; when digital broadcast gadgets were no longer optional she stopped watching TV; eventually she stopped pretty much all activity. When a mid-winter "relative watch" revealed she'd pretty much stopped eating (while diligently keeping up some hypertension medicine consumption) and could no longer relate to her surroundings in a meaningful way, they took her to the local hospital for a while, then brought to the spare room in my parents' home.

Building a habit... (Vol. 14)
[Semi-standard copy-paste intro.]
A while ago I wrote about the concept of Morning Coffee Walk - a habit I'm trying to pick up in order to get myself going and moving before starting any other daily activities. The rules of this game are simple: get dressed (weather-appropriately), grab a mugful of hot beverage and head out; do not return until the mug is empty.
Here are some highlights from today's walk.

So I have been playing... (20). Aperture Science Reunion.
With my Planescape endeavours successfully in the can and my gametesting responsibilities on standby in the wake of an update, I have ventured to some unfamiliar grounds and returned with fresh footage. Take Portal 2, for instance. Here's the whole playlist.
Here's the first episode.
Here's the second.
And, heck, here's one more. (I've only got these three so far, might as well show them off all at once.)

Today was ridiculously warm and mellow. I had seized quite some outdoors time already, absorbing generous amounts of sunlight and silky breeze. When I learned that the forecast rain is closing in, I set out in an attempt to catch it. Here are the results.
ED:
And here's a little bit of bonus material from half a week later.

Over the time the Drag-Your-Ass-Out-There game has morphed somewhat. With more daylight and more forgiving weather, it has become easier to just stroll out any time so the first-thing-in-the-morning part has lost its urgency. The more forgiving weather also means that oftentimes I get to exploit the back yard for the coffee-under-the-open-skies part. So, while the "game's" purpose remains, its name - technically - does not always apply. In any case, here are some highlights from today's walk.

Last week its was all sun, snow, and sunbathing dog turds.
This week, it looks like the "shit gets real with spring rain" phase has finally kicked in. So, here are some highlights from today's walk.

Looks like the winter is finally losing its grip. It's been a long one and I've got "screenshots" to prove it (here, here, here and here.) Anyway, here are some highlights from today's walk.
Here's the sun and the freeze fighting over some ice a few days later.

Here are some highlights from today's walk. (I expanded my route to the "other railroad" and "between-the-railroads" turf before returning to my usual wander-grounds.)

And two more highlights from three days later - with sun out and everything.

I've mentioned earlier that in wintertime the camera doesn't get to go out and play as often. (This one time when the first bigger winter cold had wrapped everything in an otherworldly fog upon its arrival I almost went back to fetch the camera but then decided to "experience it rather than worry how to report it".) Today it came along and here are some highlights.

So I have been playing... (16). Reliving Fallout.
Most of my play-energy goes into testing these days. Even so, I take the occasional moment to clear my thoughts by playing something different. I find it especially helpful to play something that looks completely different - like turn-based conquest porn or some adventure classics. I'd started feeling the longing for wasteland wandering growing for a while and eventually got to poking around the original Fallout again. I'd also started to miss the recording process (once you get it going, it's SO much easier to just babble into the mic rather than put together a coherent written piece). What's happening here, is putting these two together. (the rest of the playlist will be here.)

I have been able to keep up with my drag-yer-ass-out-routine quite well but in wintertime I have not dragged along the camera so much. Also, I haven't quite felt like writing and posting much the past few months. But today the weather and the lure of fleeting daylight left me no excuse. So, here are some highlights from today's walk.

Sometimes it's really difficult to activate my ass and get out there. (Especially if I've been up at night. Or when I'm feeling down. Or when the room is cold. Or when I'd have to go somewhere later on anyway.) Then again, each time I accomplish that I'm glad that I did and I always feel better afterwards.
Here are some highlights from today's walk. (Starring the new thermos mug.)

So I have been playing ... (12). Old Zone, new tricks.
My "mission statement" for the latest Zone videos reads like this:
Primary objective: work my way into the PSI-emission areas and survive - one step at the time. The amount of trial-and-error, figuring out new things, searching for information that isn't immediately accessible has been immensely satisfying lately. The thing with "avoiding the main quest" is that it's not so much a goal as it is an anti-goal - and it still leaves the "so what do I wish to achieve here" question hanging in the air. There have been a few moments in this game when I've felt that I didn't really have my sight set to anything and didn't quite know where I wanted to go with the whole thing. And now the artifact modifications feature (introduced by the Oblivion Lost mod) has given me a desirable goal to pursue. I'm learning, I'm finding ways to conquer challenges and move beyond obstacles - and enjoying every bit of it.
Secondary objectives:
- avoid the main quest related actions as much as possible
- find alternatives or workarounds to avoid my brain bleeding out near PSI-emitters
- make and loot the modificate artifacts
- gather more and more sweet recipes
The Ultimate Objective: re-learn the essential skills for making it in the Zone.
Here's the first video of that venture (continues the playlist introduced over here).
ED: And here's the rocky road towards home stretch ...
... and finally a milestone I've been attempting to reach for quite a while in this game.

The power of pee meets the power of smart kids
I'm supposed to an adult. Yet I involuntarily respond with pure giggly joy when meeting dribble and doodoo jokes (not to mention dongs scribbled on the wall, boobs that don't belong and random flying penises).
I while ago I even made this little spiritual reminder (a reference to a bunch of inside jokes with too much obscurity and extra background to repeat or even remember).
At the same time, I've discovered that I can harness this "inappropriate" glee in the learning process (for myself at least) - dull or hard to grasp information finds its way into the this-makes-sense-circles when some jolly bodily functions bring it along to the perception party and help it mingle.
And then I read news like this: io9.com/5958887/oh-this-just-some-teenage-girls-from-africa-who-invented-a-urine-powered-generator - and want to applaud. First out of the sheer immature glee, and second to celebrate the curiosity and smarts and the dash of mad science these girls have.
I don't know how well the generator works, I don't know the amount of giggling gone into the invention process - but the fact that they came up with the idea makes the world seem a better place.
